A Birthday Tribute to Our Corps

I was blessed to be born into a wonderful family. A family that has a honor and tradition of service to our country. My Grandpa served, my Dad served, my husband serves, my brother-in-law serves, my cousin serves. There is also my family of those that have served that are not related to me in any other way then through the blood of our Corps. They have each worn the uniform of the greatest fighting force our country knows. They all have the same title and that title is --
UNITED STATES MARINE!

Being a Marine Corps family has given my family opportunities and experiences that i could never have dreamed of. We have been able to travel the world, see the inside of the Presidential helicopters, spend Christmas at the White House, celebrate the birthday of our nation at an American Embassy abroad, and roam the woods of Camp David just to name a few. However, for all the great places that we have been there is nothing better then the Marines that we have met along the way. Our four years on the MSG program were the greatest years in our lives. We got to met Marines and make them a part of our family.

Today on this the 234th Birthday of our Corps I wish all the Marines in my life a very Happy Birthday!!! To my Grandpa and Dad -- thank you for your years of service to our Corps and country. To Kevin, Tony and Andy -- thank you for your continued service today and for the days still to come. To Gabe and Mike -- thank you for your service as you still put on the uniform every day! To Nick, Morgan, Jesus, Chris, and David -- through you hung up your uniform -- the old saying rings true -- "once a Marine always a Marine!!" Thank you for your years of service! And to all the other Marines, too many to name them all, in our lives -- thank you and Happy Birthday!

To all Marines -- thank you for your service, your love of Corps, country, God and family. Your service to our country is a gift that you have given to this entire nation and for that I stand in awe of you. To all of you reading this post -- please pray and celebrate all Marines today but especially those Marines that are deployed to foreign lands, standing post, away from their family and friends all to make sure that you and your family enjoy the life and freedoms that you live everyday.

I end my birthday tribute with a quote from President Ronald Regan.

"Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference to the world, but the Marines don't have that problem....."

HAPPY 234TH BIRTHDAY MARINES!!!!

A Fall Family Tradition

This past weekend we headed out into the valleys of California for a fall family tradition that is one of my favorite things to do every year! We went to Bates Nut Farm to spend the day............
in the pumpkin patch!!!
Looking for the perfect pumpkins to carve into Jack-o-lanterns this Halloween!
We searched through mounds of pumpkins.......... and finally found three perfect pumpkins to bring home!
The boys enjoyed the farm and all the fun things they got to do!

Holding a "giant squash" was "really neat!"
And running around the straw maze looking for the 8 stamps was great fun!
The tractor ride through the fields was a huge hit!!!
And playing in the rows of corn was lots of fun!
We had a great day on the farm and enjoyed the Southern California "fall weather"!!
We hope you are having a wonderful fall season and enjoying your own fall family traditions!
Until next time..............

Back To School Night

Last night we were at Kate Sessions Elementary for "Back To School Night" and it proved to be non-stop fun from start to finish. We all had a great time and enjoyed being with Jack while he showed us his school!!!
Rubio's catered dinner and we all enjoyed our chicken tacos and chips and salsa while talking with other KSE families.
We had our dinner here in the outdoor lunch arbor -- the place where Jack has lunch every day with his "lunch bunch" (a group of boys that were all together last year in class but are all in different classes this year.)!!!
After dinner we headed into Room 10 -- Mrs. Kenyon's 2nd Grade!
Jack's classroom is so warm and welcoming and I know that this is a place that Jack's loves to be and enjoys learning here!!!
Jack gave us a tour of his classroom and showed us all the work that the kids have been doing and all the great things they are learning about. Here is our 2nd grader sitting at his desk!!!
He really wanted us to see the "word wall!"
We also got to met the class "pets"!!!
Yes, that is a tarantula!!
(She has a name but I can't remember what it is -- oops!)
And here are the lizards!
"Cookie" and "Cream"!!!
Jack and Nick both love the lizards!
At the beginning of the year Mrs. Kenyon had the kids draw a self portrait and then write a letter to the class introducing themselves.
Here is our Jack!!!
And here is a close up of his letter. I had to share this because as I read this last night I had tears in my eyes and I'm just so proud of my boy!!! He is a joy and he sure knows how to make a Mom beam with pride!!! Take a moment to read it -- I know I'm a lot bias but I think it's super cute and sweet!!!
Totally Jack!!!
After we were done in the classroom Jack wanted to show us some of the other places that he spends time at while in school.
Our first stop the Library!!
(Any surprises there? If you know Jack you know he loves to read so it should come as no surprise that our first stop was the library!!)
I think this is just a sweet, cute little library!!
Jack was so excited to show me where he finds "all the dinosaur books"!!!
And while Jack showed me where the dino books are located, Nick rearranged the carpet mats in perfect groups!!
Then we got to see the computer lab...........
the Spanish classroom................
and the Art Room!!!

Jack loves his little school and we couldn't be any happier ourselves. It is the perfect place for our Jack. He has had two great teachers, has made some really cute friends, and is a very happy 2nd grader!!!
Until next time........

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

FRIDAY:
Jack went to school and had an awesome last day as the "Super Star Student" for the week.
While Jack was at school my workman Nick worked on the fence in our backyard!!!After school we picked Jack up and headed to one of our favorite places -- MCSS for our swim lessons with Jen!!
After a great swim lesson and the first one that Daddy ever got to see we went home to change out of wet swim suits before heading back up to Kate Sessions for Seahawk Pride kickoff!!!
We ate pizza with Mrs. Barker and Mrs. Kenyon and then Jack painted a leaf tile to be hung on a giant tree mural that is being painted on the campus. He will forever be a part of Kate Sessions!
The boys had a great time playing a little hopscotch............
and 4 square!!!!
After dinner and some games -- the boys took part in the cupcake walk!!
They had so much fun!!!
And enjoyed the sweet taste of victory!!! (Even if Daddy had to buy the cupcakes!)

SATURDAY:
Our last baseball game of the season was Saturday morning.
Jack and his friend Jared had an awesome game and made some really great plays together!
We had a great time cheering for Jack and the Muckdogs!!!

Jack did an awesome job behind the plate and made some great catches!!!
This season has been so great and Jack has really grown up playing baseball this summer!
He has found a true love of the game and has enjoyed every minute of the season.
And at his last at bat this season -- he did something he has talked about since the first day of practice.
Jack hits a DOUBLE!!!!

The kids had a great season and they were always so fun to watch and cheer on!!!
The 2009 Miramar Muckdogs!!!!

After baseball we came home and had some lunch before heading out to one of our all time favorite places in San Diego!
Do you know where that is?
SEA WORLD of course!!!

The dolphin show at Sea World is under renovation so right now the dolphins and pilot whales from Dolphin Cove have been moved over to Shamu Stadium. You can go down "under the tanks" and watch the animals swim. This is always a huge hit with the boys!! And I have to admit I think its pretty cool too!!!
After watching the dolphins and pilot whales we headed into the stadium to watch a show that we haven't seen all summer!!!
Believe -- staring Shamu!!!
As many times as we've been to Sea World and seen Shamu we always love it!!!
Nick was really into the "Shamu splash"!!!!
After the show was done we went over to the tide pools!
The boys always enjoy being able to reach right into the water and touch the sea life!!!
There was one place that we had to go again before we left --
back over to Shamu Stadium to see the dolphins again!!!
The dolphins were not going to disappoint -- they kept swimming right pass the boys and oh my gosh Jack and Nick loved it!!!!
It was very fun to watch and so exciting!!!
SUNDAY:
We took it easy and just did things here at home!!!
Jack and Daddy did a lot of this in the backyard...........
And Nick did this while Jack and Daddy were playing!!
We all did a lot of watching of these little guys!
Oh how fun we think they are and we love watching them in our own backyard!
And before bed both boys did a lot of this.............. Jack is reading a book I can remember reading as a kid -- WOW!!!

Our Friday, Saturday and Sunday were great and we hope you had a great weekend too!!!!
There are more pictures from our weekend at www.dropshots.com/theandersonfamily if your interested! :)
Until next time...............
