Shine On!

It may have been just a matter of time, or you could just chalk it up to "being 100% boy" but Monday night before dinner Nick had a close encounter with our coffee table. That encounter resulted in this...........
Yes, that is a black eye!!
I took this picture "the morning after".............
Wednesday morning..................And the view when the eye is closed (also Wednesday morning)!!! Here we are this morning........................
Isn't that the prettiest shades of purple, green and blue you've ever seen?
My poor baby!! Monday night when it happened there were LOUD screams and LOTS of tears, but since then he really hasn't complained about it. The only time he really talks about it is when somebody asks him about his eye or his brother says "oh Nick, your eye looks terrible!" Gee, thanks Jack! :)
All I can say is.......there is NEVER a dull moment around here!!!
Until next time..........

A Whole Lot of Shakin' Going On...........

From the web site www.quake.usgs.gov:

A minor earthquake occurred at 8:45:10 PM (PDT) on Sunday, May 17, 2009.
The magnitude 3.1 event occurred 0 km (0 miles) SSE of Lennox, CA.
The hypocentral depth is 12 km ( 7 miles).

OH MY GOSH!!!

We were sitting in the living room watching TV when the earth started to shake. However, at first I didn't realize it was a earthquake. I thought it was Koa North sleeping, because sometimes when he sleeps he dreams and shakes!!! If he is close enough to the sofa he can shake it a little. So, I looked down -- but no Koa!!! I looked up at Kevin and Nick (Uncle Nick is here for the weekend) and said to them "are we having an earthquake?" They both looked at me and said "YES!!!"

Oh I didn't like that one bit!!!
The ground is not supposed to shake under my feet!!!

Just another thing to learn to live with here in Southern California!!!

Until next time........

He Is One Cool Guy!!!

Nick loves to wear his sun glasses and he always looks pretty cool doing so!!!
My little "cool rider!"
He has gotten really good at his balance bike. He can zip around the patio in no time flat and notice his feet aren't even touching the ground!!!!
He is so cool he even wears his shades while talking to Grammy on the phone!!!

A Full Weekend!!!

Weekends seem to go by so fast and this weekend was no different! We have had a very busy two and a half days! Friday night we had our end of the season soccer party! We met at a park at Miramar Friday afternoon for pizza, cake and lots of playing. The kids had a great time!!!

Here is our cake............isn't it great!!
I had it done at the commissary at Miramar! If you look closely it may look like a sheet cake but really it was done all with cupcakes!!!The kids enjoyed their pizza!!
The Stingers!

Saturday morning was our final game of the season!!!
And of course our favorite player #16 was back in the box!!!
After the game we had our trophy ceremony!!!
#16 Jack Anderson!!!
The Stingers with their wonderful coaches and trophies!!!
Great Season Stingers!!! My friend Heather and I were "Team Moms" for our team!! We got trophies too so we had to have a picture taken with us and our kids!! Don't Jack and Megan look thrilled to be doing this with us?

After soccer we came home to check on our chicks and change clothes, then we headed out for some fun!!! We went up to Carlsbad to the strawberry fields to pick our own strawberries!!! The boys were so excited and had a great time!!!
Nick kept asking if he could eat them the minute he picked it from the plant!!
The strawberry's were so big, beautiful, sweet, juicy and in full season!!
Jack loved picking them and now doesn't want to buy them at the store any more. He asked if we could go pick strawberries every week!!!

My boys in the strawberry fields in Carlsbad!!!
The first thing we did when we got home was wash our strawberries up and put them in a bowl!!
Don't they look beautiful?
It was hard to keep the boys out of the berries -- they are so good!!!

After our tummies were full of berries we all headed to the garage!! It was time to check on the chicks and let them have a little fun out of their blue house!!!
The boys had a great time letting the chicks "explore" our backyard!!!
I was a little worried about Nick with the chicks but he was so gentle with them and really listened to Jack and it was sweet to watch!!!
Jack absolutely loved having these three little guys here with us this weekend!!!
I just loved the smile that was on his face when he was playing with the chicks!!!
I think the chicks love (as much as chickens can love) Jack too!!!
They would follow him all over the yard!!!

Saturday night Jack and I went with Aunt Elizabeth down to the beach (at 10:45 pm) here in PB to greet the grunions!!! However, there was not one fish to greet but we had a nice walk on the beach!

That brings us to Sunday and Mother's Day!!! We had a nice day at home! Aunt Elizabeth came down to spend the day with us!! We just hung out at home, played outside with the dogs and chicks (but not at the same time!) and grilled out for dinner!!!
Jack enjoying his time with the chicks before their return to school!
The boys really loved playing with them!!!
Before Aunt Elizabeth left last night we tried to take a picture of the "mom's with the kids"! Let me tell you, this might be the hardest picture to get ever.....try getting three dogs and two kids (ages 6 1/2 and 2 1/2) all to look at the camera at the same time!!! Its not easy and this is the best we could do..............

Wow, what a weekend!!! Filled with lots of firsts, lasts and love!! Perfect!!!
And to all the mom's out there..........Happy Mother's Day!!!
To my mom, I thank you for being the mom, wife and woman you are!! Because of you I know how to be a great mom to my boys!!! Your the best mom any girl could ever want and I'm luck to call you mine!!! I love you Mom!!!
And to all my girlfriends.......you are all amazing moms and you inspire me every day!! I love you!!!

It's Just For The Weekend!!

Because I can't say "No" to this face...........
And I get the smiles like this when I say "Yes"...................
This is what my weekend will look like..............
Yes, those are chickens!!
Jack's class "hatched" chickens this week, and Mrs. Barker asked if we would be the family that would bring them home for the weekend!
So because I can't say "No" to this face.............
We have chickens living with us for the weekend!
Oh boy, this is going to be fun (and I say that with the most sarcasm you can imagine)!!! Hopefully everything goes well and all three will be returned to Room 7 Monday morning!!!
Until next time........

Final Practice

Last night was our final practice for the spring soccer season! It is a tradition that for the final practice the kids take on their parents for a friendly game of soccer!!
Jack started off where he starts every game -- in the box!!! And he did a great job stopping the parents from scoring on him!!!!
Nick watched all the action from the sidelines for a little while! When Jack came out of the box -- he was so excited to go one on one with his Dad!!!
There was some great action out on the field!!!
Nick found a friend and played a little one on one!!!
It was a great time -- and I think everybody had a really good time!!!
Final score -- Stingers 8 vs Parents 7!!! Stingers WIN!!!!
I'm so sad that the soccer season ends this Saturday with our final game at 9:00am!! I love soccer season!! I love watching my boy play a game that he has gotten really good at and loves, I love cheering him and his team on and I love watching Jack shine!!!
Until next time.............

"Just Like Pops"

The boys got new sandals for summer this past weekend and wore them for the first time today. When we bought the shoes at the mall Jack made the comment "they look just like Pops' sandals". So, this morning when the boys were putting on their shoes to go to school Nick said "Jack, we just like Pops" and kicked out his foot to show Jack!! I just thought that was so sweet!!
The boys new Keen sandals "just like Pops!!"

Lego Man

Many days after school, homework and a snack if you were at our house you would find Jack like this...........playing or should I say building with his Lego's. He has really gotten into Lego's and enjoys it very much!
He told me the other day that he has "moved up" from the baby Lego's to the big kids ones. He said "you know mom these are more of a challenge and I love a challenge. These are for big kids like me, but I will still help and teach Nick how to build with the little kid ones." (He is such a good big brother!)
This week he worked very hard to make this............
He followed the instructions in the book and finally he was done!!
He did a wonderful job building his helicopter ALL BY HIMSELF!!!
He was so proud of his helicopter that he took it to school this morning for show and tell. I'm really proud of him too!!! He did a GREAT job and its just another sign that my Jack is growing up!!
Until next time............
