Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

FRIDAY:
Jack went to school and had an awesome last day as the "Super Star Student" for the week.
While Jack was at school my workman Nick worked on the fence in our backyard!!!After school we picked Jack up and headed to one of our favorite places -- MCSS for our swim lessons with Jen!!
After a great swim lesson and the first one that Daddy ever got to see we went home to change out of wet swim suits before heading back up to Kate Sessions for Seahawk Pride kickoff!!!
We ate pizza with Mrs. Barker and Mrs. Kenyon and then Jack painted a leaf tile to be hung on a giant tree mural that is being painted on the campus. He will forever be a part of Kate Sessions!
The boys had a great time playing a little hopscotch............
and 4 square!!!!
After dinner and some games -- the boys took part in the cupcake walk!!
They had so much fun!!!
And enjoyed the sweet taste of victory!!! (Even if Daddy had to buy the cupcakes!)

SATURDAY:
Our last baseball game of the season was Saturday morning.
Jack and his friend Jared had an awesome game and made some really great plays together!
We had a great time cheering for Jack and the Muckdogs!!!

Jack did an awesome job behind the plate and made some great catches!!!
This season has been so great and Jack has really grown up playing baseball this summer!
He has found a true love of the game and has enjoyed every minute of the season.
And at his last at bat this season -- he did something he has talked about since the first day of practice.
Jack hits a DOUBLE!!!!

The kids had a great season and they were always so fun to watch and cheer on!!!
The 2009 Miramar Muckdogs!!!!

After baseball we came home and had some lunch before heading out to one of our all time favorite places in San Diego!
Do you know where that is?
SEA WORLD of course!!!

The dolphin show at Sea World is under renovation so right now the dolphins and pilot whales from Dolphin Cove have been moved over to Shamu Stadium. You can go down "under the tanks" and watch the animals swim. This is always a huge hit with the boys!! And I have to admit I think its pretty cool too!!!
After watching the dolphins and pilot whales we headed into the stadium to watch a show that we haven't seen all summer!!!
Believe -- staring Shamu!!!
As many times as we've been to Sea World and seen Shamu we always love it!!!
Nick was really into the "Shamu splash"!!!!
After the show was done we went over to the tide pools!
The boys always enjoy being able to reach right into the water and touch the sea life!!!
There was one place that we had to go again before we left --
back over to Shamu Stadium to see the dolphins again!!!
The dolphins were not going to disappoint -- they kept swimming right pass the boys and oh my gosh Jack and Nick loved it!!!!
It was very fun to watch and so exciting!!!
SUNDAY:
We took it easy and just did things here at home!!!
Jack and Daddy did a lot of this in the backyard...........
And Nick did this while Jack and Daddy were playing!!
We all did a lot of watching of these little guys!
Oh how fun we think they are and we love watching them in our own backyard!
And before bed both boys did a lot of this.............. Jack is reading a book I can remember reading as a kid -- WOW!!!

Our Friday, Saturday and Sunday were great and we hope you had a great weekend too!!!!
There are more pictures from our weekend at www.dropshots.com/theandersonfamily if your interested! :)

Muckdogs Honored!

Last night we gathered in the Miramar Room at the Hub to honor our 2009 Muckdogs!!!
It was trophy night and the kids were all very excited.
We cheered for our Muckdogs as they got their awards and then we had a pot luck dinner together.
It was a wonderful night and Jack said "it was the best trophy ceremony ever!"
Jack being awarded his trophy for a great baseball season!
You can tell he was very happy and excited!!!
Great season Jack -- we are so proud of you!

Star Student of the Week

Jack is the "Star Student" this week!
Part of being the star student is you do this poster the "Star Student News" that tells all about you and then you have to do an oral presentation on your poster in class.
Here is our star student with his poster!
Some of the "news" on his poster............
*"Breaking News" -- "Jack catches fly ball!" He wrote all about how he caught a fly ball the other night at practice and all the parents clapped for him.
*"Spotlight" -- How old Jack is, who he lives with and who his friends are.
*"Travel Guide" -- Jack chose to do this part on Berlin!! Why Berlin and not Disneyland? To quote Jack "Lots of kids in California have been to Disneyland, but I don't think anybody in my class has been to Berlin. I can teach them something new that they might never have heard of before. Everybody knows Disneyland Mom!" Good answer buddy, good answer! :)
*Readers Choice" -- Jack chose Dragon of the Red Dawn by Mary Pope Osborne
*"Fun Zone" -- Jack wrote about swimming and how much he loves to swim.
*"Jack's Favorite Things" -- In this section he had to write his favorite color, his favorite snack, favorite thing to drink, favorite TV show, favorite celebrity, favorite animal and so on......."
I had a great time helping Jack with this little project. I loved hearing him answer the questions and talk all about himself. I must say I even learned a little bit about my boy that I wouldn't have ever guessed.
Good Job Jack on being the Star Student of the Week!!! We are so proud of you!!!
Until next time..............

It's Safe To Go Back In The Water!

The boys have been asking and asking and asking to get back into the pool.
And since baseball is going to end this week and we have a month until soccer starts Kevin and I decided that now was the perfect time for the boys to get back in the water.
So, on Friday after school when I asked them to put on their swim shorts and put them in the car they said to me "Mom where are we going?"
Oh how excited they were to be back at MCSS and in the water with Jen.
Jen was so excited to see the boys too -- she was hugging on them when they got into the water and giving them high fives for their swimming.
It was like they haven't been out of the pool at all.
Jack's swimming is great and Nick just loves to "dive off" the side to Jen!!!
So, for the next month we will be in the water again!!! And lovin' it!
Until next time............

Baseball, and Baseball, and More BASEBALL!!!

This summer baseball fever has taken hold of the Anderson boys in a very big way.
We go to Petco Park to cheer on the Padres, we watched every game of the Little League World Series, and of course every Saturday we are at the ball field to cheer for our favorite team "The Miramar Muckdogs!"
However, I think my favorite thing is our "family games" in the backyard. There is nothing better then hearing your kids hell "batter up", "safe", "good swing", and my favorite thing "HOME RUN!"
Many nights we are in our yard and this is what is going on............
Nick loves to be the catcher -- "just like Jack and Pops!"
Nick has also taken up pitching and has become a very good little pitcher. He will throw for Jack and will make it over the plate almost every time.
Jack is a great pitcher as well and Nick loves it when his brother will pitch to him.
But hitting is always Jack and Nick's favorite thing. Now, I know that I'm a little bit bias but wow, can those boys swing a bat!
I love watching them run the bases!!!
And it is always fun to hear the cheers and giggles that come along with all the fun!
I had to include these two videos on this post -- they just make me smile and giggle.
Here is Nick's turn at the plate:

A Birthday!

Today is a birthday, a birthday for one of the greatest women in my life. But, today the birthday girl is not with us to celebrate. Today would have been my Gram's 83rd birthday!
We lost my Gram a year and a half ago and I miss her so very much. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about her, but today I celebrate her birthday.
My Gram was the most amazing grandmother any little girl could ever ask for......she was the perfect grandmother! At least in my eyes she was! I have so many memories of my Gram, some known and shared with the rest of our family and others that are just hers and mine.
My Gram was the center of our family and we all miss her so very much!!!
So, today on her birthday I will light a gardenia candle, sing "Happy Birthday" and think of my Gram and all the great wonderful smiles and laughs we had together!!! And even though she is not here to celebrate her special day -- we still celebrate her.
Happy Birthday Gram!
We all love and miss you!!!

"2nd Grade is SO Different Then 1st Grade!"

That is what Jack said to me yesterday when he got home from school.
I said to him "How is that buddy?"
Looking at me with that duh mom look he says "Because it's the first full week of school and I already have homework. Mrs. Barker waited till after Christmas to start giving us home work last year!"

So, yesterday after school, Jack came home, had a snack, then did his homework before heading out to baseball practice!!!

School Days!!!

I can't believe that summer is over and that it is time to go back to school.

Last week we got Jack's supply list and we headed out to Target to go shopping. Jack got everything he needed and got to pay for it all by himself with the money he got from Grammy and Pops. He thought that was so great and loved shopping for new school supplies. Thanks Grammy and Pops!

Last night we got all of Jack's new supplies out and got them all ready for him to take with him for the 1st day of school.

Check out all the stuff you need for 2nd grade! Oh my gosh, did I just say 2nd grade? How can that be right -- my boy is in 2nd grade already? I can remember when Jack was born my grandfather said to me "Enjoy this baby because before you know it you will be taking him to his 1st day of school and then you will blink and you will be dropping him off at college." Wow, Grandpa you were right!!!

This morning Jack woke up early and ready to start his day!
For breakfast he had "2 waffles because I'm starting 2nd grade" and a glass of milk.

As Jack sat there having breakfast we were talking and oh how my boy makes me smile.

He says to me "so Mom, do you think I look taller today?"
I looking a little perplexed at him said "taller then yesterday?"
He laughs and says "No, Mom, not taller then yesterday, taller then on my first day of 1st grade!"
"Yes, buddy you look taller today!!"

After breakfast, Jack brushed his teeth, got dressed and was ready to head off to school!
But first -- a 1st Day of School picture in our front breezeway!!!
We drove up to school and oh my gosh it was crazy busy this morning!
We parked our car and walked up the hill and waited at the light to cross the street to school!
At Sessions the kids line up in the morning on the blacktop and wait for their teacher to come and take them to their classroom. Then have painted numbers on the ground that are the same numbers as the classrooms. This year Jack will be Room 10. So, we found his line and he along with his little brother waited for Mrs. Kenyon!
Once Mrs. Kenyon came and got her class it was on to the new classroom. Jack hung his backpack outside on the hooks and then headed into the room to find his desk. We found his deck and he unloaded his supplies and got ready to start his day!
Oh my gosh he looks so big sitting there this morning!
Then it was time for us to leave, the kids were asked to move to the carpet and Mrs. Kenyon started the day!
I can't wait for him to come home this afternoon so I can hear all about his 1st day!!
I hope he has a great 2nd grade year but gosh, I wish these years would slow down a little bit -- I'm not ready to take him to college just yet!!!
Until next time...............

The List Is Out!!!

Tonight the boys and I went here............
Because today was the day that "the list was published"!!!
What list?
The class list for this school year!
Before the end of last year Mrs. Barker and I sat down and talked about who's class Jack would best fit into. She said one of the sweetest things to me that day. "Jack will do great in whatever class he is placed but there is one teacher I think he would really enjoy being in her class."
So, all summer I have thought "who's class will Jack be in for 2nd grade?"
I really hoped that we would see his name in Mrs. Kenyon's class when it was time to go to school and see the list on the windows of the office.
So, tonight as we walked up to the school I was holding my breath. We found the second grade list and looked for Jack's name.
And then there it was......................
Jack's in Mrs. Kenyon's class!!!
I'm so thrilled and he was very excited as well. He knows most the kids in his class as well and is now more then ever looking forward to the first day of school and to seeing his friends again!!!
As we walked away from school tonight Jack looked up at me and said
"Mom 2nd grade is going to be great and I can't wait!!!"
Until next time...............

In Our Backyard

Tonight while I cleaned up from dinner the boys headed outside to play.
As they were walking out the door I heard something about baseball but I didn't pay much attention.
Well, when I was done in the house and headed outside to see what the boys were up to this was what I saw.........
A baseball game in the backyard!!!
Daddy was the pitcher, Jack the batter and Nick was playing catcher "just like Jack and Pops does!"
How cute is that?
A closer view of home plate!!!
Oh how these boys make me smile!!!
